How can we support you?

Brittney MacLeod,
LCSW

Life is full of ups, downs, struggles and celebrations. Adding additional support and guidance during down times can help you get back where you can enjoy life’s celebrations. Asking for help takes strength and can be scary. I assure you your fears will be calmed once we meet.

I use a client focused and strength based approach, which means you will be driving the therapy process with my support along the way. During the process the focus will be on your strengths. I will help you explore your feelings and thoughts to identify thinking errors and emotions that are causing road blocks in your life journey. With my help you will learn new coping skills that you can apply to your everyday life. Every individual is unique, which makes it important to find skills that work for you. I use a variety of therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialect Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focus, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy. If you wish to know more about these modalities, I am happy to provide further information and answer questions.

I received a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2006, giving me 10 years of experience working with individuals, families and groups. I have worked in community mental health, schools, group homes and private practice. I have held clinical licenses in three different states. I am an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in the state of California.

My specialty is working with children from the age of 3 through 18. The gentle approach I use works well with children. When working with children, having their family involved produces the best outcome. I have the natural ability to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients. My experience working with children includes the areas of: ADHD, Anger, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum, Depression, Grief & Loss, Trauma, Major Life Transitions (including divorce), Developmental Disabilities and Behavioral Issues.

While my specialty area is working with children, my approach to therapy can be  applied to all ages. I have had a great deal of success working with adults also. I work individually with adults in the areas of: Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, ADHD, OCD, Grief & Loss, Autism Spectrum, Trauma, Major Life Transitions and Identity Issues. I offer family work as well which includes couples, parenting support and conflict resolution.

I am passionate about my work and genuinely care for each of my clients. I take the time to get to know my clients, and through that process a therapeutic relationship is created. I bring a positive attitude, a listening ear, an open mind and experience to each of my appointments. What you can expect from our work together are increased insight to you or your child’s feelings and new skills to help you conquer life’s challenges.
